This is something one doesn't often see downtown.
I was on a street, in the middle of downtown Cluj, waiting for some friends to arrive, as we had plans to go dancing. It was sunday, 11 p.m. and they were late. The busses and all other means of public transportation were no longer running, so here comes this guy, looks around for a short while, and goes to the side of the street and starts hitch-hiking. He was in his mid 30s, i suppose, wearing a cap, scruffy trousers, a T-shirt on top of a rather large belly and a red blouse on his shoulders. When a taxi would pull over, he would refuse the ride, but kept on hitching regular cars. One would expect hitch-hikers on the outer limits of the town, but not downtown. So, of course, no one gave him a ride, and after about 15 minutes he dejectedly left on foot.
I'm sorry my friends were not there to see him, we would have had some laughs about it!
