At some point I noticed that the stories we are told as children induce some sort of mental structures that shape the way we see the world around us as we grow up. One of these structures is the myth of perfect and eternal love. Cinderella, Snow White and other stories are structured around a pattern: "girl grows up. falls in love. gets married and lives happily ever after". Reality is quite different from that. People who marry the first person they've ever fallen in love with, are quite rare, and almost impossible to find are cases where they stayed happilly married until the day they died. Still, we are told this is what happens when you grow up. It can be a shock to some people to find out that in fact things are quite different, that you may fall for someone who doesn't care, or doesn't like you, or that somenone could fall for you but you don't give a damn, or hate their guts, or that not all relationships work out.
And one happy day, I found this film:

It is exacly what i was hoping and praying for: a story that breaks the myth, a story that shows the world as it is, a story that I will show to my kids, if I ever have kids. I hope it is the beginning of a change of paradigm.
